I came across a post mentioning an interesting site: CloudShark.org.
The idea is simple, you upload your saved packet capture file, produced by using Wireshark, and it displays inspection interface right in the browser, similar to desktop version of Wireshark.
A (Wire)shark at the cloud!
Capture file size limited to below 512K bytes
After playing a while, I found the capture file cannot be larger than 512K bytes. You have to remember to keep your capture file small enough to be successfully fed into CloudShark.
Good for demo and lab practice
I do not suggest you to put sensitive capture files on such new web sites. However, if your packets are captured in practice lab environment, they should be quite safe to be uploaded to this site.
This tool is handy especially when your packet demo PC do not have Wireshark installed!
Start with online sample files
Where to get some sample capture file, just to play with it? I google-ed around and found one page on Wireshark.
SampleCaptures on Wireshark.org
Although CloudShark do takes public URLs as upload source, the file links in above page somehow are not working with CloudShark. And this should not be a problem because you can always download them to your PC first and then upload to CloudShark.
But remember, pick sample capture files whose size is under 512K bytes!
Thanks for the mention! We've fixed the issue loading URL's right from Wireshark's wiki. Just make sure you use the [GET] link when looking at the attachment page.
